When Dreaming Alone Is Not Enough

When Dreaming Alone Is Not Enough | Life Advice | Personal Growth & Development | Mindfulness

Hey there, Wholehearted Woman.

You're a dreamer too, aren't you?

Maybe you want to travel around the world, write a book, open up an Etsy shop, start a podcast, backpack through Europe, start a photography business, etc.

The opportunities are absolutely endless.

But dreams are just dreams until you actually take action on them - and it has to be repeated action. It’s not enough to just do something once, be done with it, and expect everything to work out for you.

No, you actually have to work on your dreams.

Want to backpack through Europe? You need to have a backpack, decide on your packing list, buy your airfare, plan out transportation, consider your budget, and many, many more things. Not to mention - you have to be mentally and physically prepared for the adventure.

What’s your plan if things go wrong? What if you get lost? What if you feel lonely and/or homesick?

See what I mean?

Having dreams is great. Actually, it's amazing!

But it’s also not enough to make them come to life. You have to be the one to give them life - to make them a reality.

There are people out there who are doing the very thing you want to do. But they worked for it - and often for many years. They didn't just sit around watching Netflix hoping it would happen one day.

The good news? You can find out how they got there. Do your research, listen to their interviews, learn their story, etc. Knowledge is power, but you have to apply that knowledge for it to be powerful.

But before working on your dreams, make sure the passion is there and this is something you want.

For yourself.

Not because someone once told you it was going to be a good idea.

There are going to be days when you question your sanity, your actions, and whether your goals are even possible.

There are going to be days when you want to throw in the towel and call it quits. Days when you wonder why you even thought this was a plausible idea.

There are going to be days when you wake up tired in the morning because you stayed up too late the night before trying to figure something out. And maybe even not figuring it out in the end.

There are going to be days when you feel alone in your struggle and you can’t seem to muster up the courage to ask others for help.

…and when you’re done crying about it, you’re going to continue working on your dreams anyway because it’s what you want. Not what anyone else wants, but what you want and truly desire. While other people may be excited for you in the beginning and at times throughout your journey, they can’t take the journey for you or make the dream happen for you.

That’s all you, sister.

So what is it that you truly desire?

What is your dream?

What do you want to make a reality?

What does that little nagging voice in your head say?

What dreamy idea of yours makes your heart skip a beat?

Your dreams? They’re yours for a reason.

Sure, they may come with a lot of “baggage”, i.e. hours upon hours of practice, more patience than you’d like to give, trust in yourself to make it happen, discipline to stay in the game, etc. But it’s worth it.

If you talk to the people who are living their dream life, you'll know it didn't happen to them overnight. They made it happen for themselves. They put in the work and showed up even on the days when they didn't want to.

Was it easy? Certainly not. But is it possible? Definitely.

Don’t be afraid to do the work.

The work will help you grow. You’ll be challenged in ways you didn’t want to be challenged, but you will also learn lessons that last a lifetime and will help and inspire many others. You’ll learn about important life lessons about healing, trust, forgiveness, and love. You’ll learn how to stay grounded and stay true to your roots.

At the end of the day, the chances of your dreams becoming a reality are in your hands.

It’s not up to anyone but yourself.

You can do it. I know you can.

Now let’s go make those beautiful dreams of yours a reality.

Tell me about in your dreams. What makes your heart skip a beat? What inspires you to jump out of bed every morning?
